Archer
Archer is a web application developed by the Cline Center for accessing the Global News Index and Extracted Features Repository via API and user-interface systems. Archer's user-interface system provides a visual interface for querying the Global News Index that allows queries to be built using icons and drop-down menus, while allowing more technically-savvy users to use Lucene query syntax via a ‘raw query’ option. Archer also allows users to create facets and see visualizations of the facet results, which can help users refine their queries. Archer's API system allows advanced users to conduct more complex queries at scale.
The Archer application is currently in beta phase with limited access for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign faculty, staff, and students. If you are interested in learning more about Archer or would like to request access to the system, please email us at cline-center@illinois.edu.
